Ginger Gets Amputation Help from ASAP Grant

Tripawd Ginger Gets Back to What She Loves Most

Here is her application story as told by Ginger’s mom Tina.

I’ve had Ginger since she was able to leave her mom. She had Parvo as a puppy and I was able to take her to the vet and she made it.

On Oct.16,2025 Ginger and her sister went out to the bathroom 930 pm, they ran to the back corner of the fenced in yard. Ginger squealed. She made it back to the porch she had mud on her nose. I thought maybe her sister had knocked her down or she tripped as she was holding up her foot.

I wrapped the ankle joint for support with coban. She did not sleep at all thru the night I had my son put her in my truck and I went and sat waiting for her vets office to open. They were able to work her in.

I had to leave her for X-rays. I’ve never had to leave her with strangers before. That was a bad feeling. They did x-rays and called to say she had a spiral fracture of her right front humerus.

Options, surgery plates and screws, amputation, or euthanasia. My mind was a mess.

She is my best friend. I can’t give up on her because I know she would be there for me to the very end.

She is not ready to leave either other than the first two days when my son carried her out side after she first broke her leg and came home from the vet she had been doing great getting around on her three good legs.

She even climbed he stairs to get on the bed one night. I had to have my son get her down. She’s snuck on the couch twice, she’s normally allowed I’ve just been trying to keep her from hurting herself pain.

Then when we went to the vet in Memphis she hopped into the front of my truck and into the front seat before my son could stop her.

So what would this grant mean to me and Ginger, it would mean we get to spend more time by each other’s side, we would be each other’s emotional support now.

I know there will come a time where she won’t be with me any longer and when the time comes and her quality of life is not good and she is hurting or sick, I will do the right thing and she will go peacefully, I would never make her suffer.

When I got her I knew she would be my responsibility and I would be her protector and she would be mine.
