Feline Amputation for Midnight
Friday, June 7th, 2024 I was at work when I had received a call from my brother around 5:40 pm that he had found our 8 year old family ESA cat, Midnight, panting under the bed. Not knowing something was wrong, my brother then went to pick her up to see if maybe she was thirsty and that’s when she began bleeding nonstop.
I then rushed home from work and took midnight to the emergency vet an hour away, unsure of what had happened. Midnight had gone outside with me when I was leaving for work at 5:00 pm (we’ve lived in the same neighborhood 8 years) which is normal to her routine so we didn’t think anything too major could have happened in the 40 minutes she was outside.
Five hours later they confirmed she had been shot in the chest with a pellet and her leg was completely shattered with severe nerve damage and unfortunately our best option was amputation. On Monday June 10, 2024 she received the surgery.
I’m 24 and take care of my 4 year old son and 17 year old brother full time, the grant is extremely helpful in covering this unexpected expense.
