Meet Tripawd Englidh Bulldog Rudy

Rudy is now a 13 year old Tripawd English Bulldog. Rudy stopped using his right hind leg late this spring, and subsequently was diagnosed with cancer in his hind leg, both in a tumor and in the bone. After conducting a biopsy, the type of cancer was inconclusive, so either a core biopsy or amputation was needed to conduct further testing.

Canine Rehab for Tripawd English Bulldog Rudy

Since the treatment for cancer would be amputation anyways, we proceeded with the amputation. We adopted Rudy when he was four years old from the Chicago English Bulldog Rescue. We were volunteers and fosters for more than six years at CEBR, but had to take a break last year due to some personal life changes. Rudy had his initial evaluation at Integrative Pet Care in Chicago yesterday, and his treatment plan will include therapeutic exercise, underwater treadmill, and techniques to perform at home, as well as fitting for a cart.

Since Rudy is 13 and also has significant hip dysplasia in his left hind leg, his plan is to help him regain mobility while also managing his pain. Especially for his age, Tripawd English Bulldog Rudy has been recovering extremely well and we are hopeful that the additional therapy will continue to give him strength and confidence. Rudy was seen by Dr Ridley at Integrative Pet Care in Chicago. We heard about Tripawds from Rudy’s oncologist at MedVet.
