New Tripawd Spooky Pooky Cat’s Healing Journey

Spooky is an active young cat who enjoys his time outdoors, getting pets, and playing with his toys. However, after he went missing for three days, we assumed the worst since he’d never been gone for longer than two days.

My daughter went out looking for him on day three early in the morning rain and found he had drug himself under her car for shelter. The lower half of Spooky’s body was stiff and immobilized from trauma, meaning he dragged himself home by his front legs. His left hind leg was torn open with his tibia badly exposed and broken with infection and maggots.

We rushed him to the animal hospital immediately and they took him into surgery as quickly as possible. There was no question that the leg couldn’t be saved. Luckily, there were no other injuries, and the infection was not as deep as previously thought. However, the bill was still debilitating to me and my family.

Unfortunately, my daughter had recently lost her job to Hurricane Helene and was struggling financially, I am physically disabled and have a limited amount of government disability. I had to get another credit card, and both of us maxed out to pay for as much of it as we could. After that, we scrounged up every dollar we had and reached out to friends for donations, but even then, there still wasn’t enough money to pay the bill.

Despite our stress and financial struggles, we are incredibly happy and relieved to have Spooky home. His recovery has been swift, and his personality is just as active and lovable. We are so relieved he’s safe and healthy. Our gratitude to Tripawds for their support cannot be expressed enough. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and Spooky’s as well.
