Tripawd Neko benefits from free canine rehab evaluation and at-home therapy thanks to Tripawds Foundation’s Rehab Grant. The consultation, and rehab exercises help Neko stay strong and love life on three legs. Read his story, and learn how you can get a free veterinary rehab evaluation for your dog or cat.
Yes! Tri-kitties qualify for free feline rehab too. See all Tripawds who have received free rehab sessions thanks to your support.
Neko is our 7-year-old Aussie/St. Bernard who recently had his left hind leg amputated due to an osteosarcoma diagnosis.
It was very sudden, and we are still reeling from the diagnosis. It was important to us to amputate quickly to extend his life and get him pain-free. He has had two chemo sessions and was able to get the “Yale Vaccine” as well, so we are hopeful he still has some years left.

Tripawd Neko had an Amazing Time at Integrated Veterinary ARTS
In spite of his diagnosis and treatment, Neko is doing awesome and is enjoying all the extra attention lately! We are committed to giving him the best care and quality of life we can, which includes making sure he adjusts to life as a tripawd.
We visited Dr. Mead at Integrated Veterinary ARTS, and Neko had a blast. They specialize in fear-free treatment, so the entire place feels like a cozy home rather than a sterile clinic.

Tripawd Neko Learned Fun Exercises and Helpful Tips from Dr. Mead
During his visit, Neko learned:
- The cookie exercise
- Step and balance board exercises
- His favorite—the hydrotherapy treadmill!
Dr. Mead explained to us the importance of a good harness to not dig into his front chest and underarms now that he’s using them more, she also pointed out some good massage techniques for his lower back since there is more stress put on it.

Tripawd Neko’s Progress and Future Appointments
Since becoming a Tripawd, Neko tends to “fishtail” when he walks, so these exercises are going to help him strengthen his core and hind leg and improve his mobility.
He is excited to go back to his 2nd appointment and we plan to take more photos and videos to upload.
At home the kids and Neko enjoy the cookie stretch the most. Dr. Mead thinks 6 appointments should get Neko fully adjusted to his new Tripawd life.
