Amputation Surgery Brings Hope to Tripawd Bear and His Family

Here is Bear’s story, as told by his human, Stephen

While playing with our dog, Bear, at the park, we were preparing to depart when he noticed something and ran after it. For some inexplicable reason, he darted into the highway and was struck by a SUV.

Approximately a year ago, I sustained an injury that has rendered me unable to work more than a few hours per week. As the sole provider for our family, this injury has put us in a precarious financial situation.

We have exhausted every last resource to ensure Bear’s care and preserve his leg, but it appears that amputation may be the necessary course of action.

Bear has been a constant companion since birth, and at the age of two, he accompanies the family on all outings. He has a close friend named June, a Husky mix, who is unable to be away from Bear.

Bear has played a pivotal role in our family’s dynamics. He serves as a source of energy and motivation, fostering a playful atmosphere within the household.

Additionally, he provides emotional support to my wife, helping her manage her anxiety.

Bear is also the best friend of my four-year-old son, and they share every experience together.

The loss of Bear would be devastating to our family.

Despite our efforts to maintain his wounds clean and provide him with the necessary care, we have been unable to afford the costly procedure of amputation.
