New Pet Amputation Client Education Materials Now Available

When a dog or cat faces amputation, pet parents are often overwhelmed, frightened, and searching for clear, compassionate information they can trust. That moment is exactly why Tripawds exists, and why we continue to create and update free patient education materials for veterinary clinics and families everywhere.

We’re excited to share that our Tripawds pet amputation brochures have been updated with our latest helpful information and resources. And, we’ve got new rack cards available that clinics, rescues, and advocates can download or print at no cost.

What are these materials?

The new and improved Tripawds patient education brochures and rack cards are designed to support pet parents at one of the most difficult points in their journey.

They explain, in calm and reassuring language:

  • What pet amputation really means
  • Why amputation is often a path to relief and healing, not loss
  • What recovery looks like after surgery
  • How dogs and cats adapt to life on three legs
  • Where to find reliable support, education, and community

These materials point families to the many free Tripawds resources, and assistance programs. They also encourage new Tripawd parents to find more help and connect with others who truly understand in the free Tripawds Support Circle.

Why do we provide these materials for free? Because no one should ever feel lost and alone when facing a life changing decision for their pet.

Veterinary teams do incredible work, but they often have limited time to provide emotional reassurance and long term guidance. Our brochures help bridge that gap by giving pet parents something tangible to take home, read, and revisit when emotions settle.

Since 2006, Tripawds has helped millions of people understand that amputation is not about losing a limb, it’s about removing pain and restoring quality of life. These materials reflect nearly two decades of personal experience, expert interviews, and real recovery stories.

Who are these materials for?

  • Veterinary clinics and specialty hospitals
  • Rehabilitation and oncology practices
  • Rescue organizations and shelters
  • Pet parents who want to help share trusted resources

Anyone can request printed brochures at no cost, or download the rack cards for easy printing and sharing. Help us reach more pets and families in need by sending brochures to your vet clinic.

If your veterinarian does not already have Tripawds brochures available, we encourage you to request them on their behalf or share this information with your clinic. A simple brochure in a waiting room can make a powerful difference for someone who feels scared and unsure.

Together, we can make sure more pet parents hear the message they need most in that moment:

You are not alone.
