Our beloved Daniel was just seven years old when he was diagnosed with chondrosarcoma on his right front elbow. Our silly happy boy astonished the vets with his pain tolerance and his ferociously friendly demeanor. From the size of the tumor and its placement right on the joint, they expected he’d be screaming in pain instead of happily greeting them with kisses and a spring in his step!
While the prognosis for his cancer was pretty good, his leg couldn’t be saved. Despite our heartbreak and fears, our vets were very encouraging and assured us that Daniel would do well.
But it was the Tripawds community that really got us through that pre-surgery trauma and everything that happened after that. True to his brave and carefree spirit, Daniel did have a very positive outcome and adjusted as if nothing had happened. Tripawds was there to help us choose harnesses, ramps, and flooring to help him live his best life. He went on to live another six and a half years with no return of the bone cancer and no repercussions from the amputation.
Of course we were heartbroken when a multitude of “old age” problems led to his passing over the Rainbow Bridge in October 2025. But we were comforted in knowing that Daniel did live a long and fulfilling life, and brought us more joy than we could ever thank him for. At Christmas last year, we were fortunate to be able to offer a donation to the Tripawds Foundation, in support of the Tripawd community, and Jim and Rene’s mission, in memory of our Daniel bear, our good Golden son…
