ASAP Grant Supports Tripawd Henri After Traumatic Injury

New Tripawd Henri the Frenchie is Ready to Take on Life with Three Legs

Here is his application story as told by Henrí’s mom Wendy, an active member of our community.

My poor little sweet potato Henri needed to have emergency surgery to have his front right leg amputated.

It was a result of someone not adhering to my wishes for his safety regarding stairs.

Henrí was only 5 months old at the time & had no business being allowed to navigate a flight of stairs. Even if he thinks he is a “bird” dog, he’s more of an adorable bowling ball.

The resulting injury shattered his elbow & growth plate.

My choices were to put him through reconstructive surgery, which the vet said was “iffy at best,” & hope it worked. If it didn’t work, he would more than likely have to be put down.

Or, have his leg amputated & know that after recovery, he would be a superstar with three legs.

I talked to two separate vets & both said the same. So the decision, though hard, was made easier knowing I’d still have my sweet little puppy-boy.

All the staff at the clinic told me Henrí was the sweetest boy & did nothing but give kisses & lean in for snuggles. That of course warmed my heart!

Because I am no spring chicken & on a very limited income, the ASAP grant would very much help out after being hit so hard with such an unforeseen, unfortunate but necessary expense.

Things like special harnesses, special ramps (because it’s difficult for me to lift him all the way because of my back) & just generally helping me make his life easier & helping to pay off this bill will 100% help me.
