Meet Sarge
I rescued a beautiful Tripawd pup who lost his leg in hurricane Harvey in September. My user name on Tripawds is lilz. I wanted to start by telling you a little why I rescued Sarge.
I am also a new amputee of my left leg from accident in 2008. We were sent an email by the foundation Foster2Home to our amputee support group. Sarge had been shown on Veterans Day at the adoption event and had no takers. From the first time I saw his charming face, I knew we had to meet and see if it would be a good match.
We have already rescued 2 other dogs and needed to make sure Sarge would be OK in our home. Our lab is 16 and wanted to bridge for our other dog to not be alone when the lab passes. Sarge fit in perfect.
He is also heartworm positive and has had to go through the very painful injections. Through it all losing his hind leg, he cracked his canine tooth trying to bite his way out from under the pole that fell on him and the heartworm injections hes managed to stay such a happy little guy!!!
The best guess is that he is a 2 year old Hungarian Vizsla herding dog. He has a very easy going personality but a little shy. Ive never inquired about help with any rescue but his heartworm treatments and all his surgeries have really added up. I hope you will consider us for help with some of his reimbursement. I was hoping as myself being an amputee I could help sarge transition and encourage him that there will be nothing he wont be able to do it will just have to be done a new way and I want to help him figure that out!!!
Thank you for all your time and efforts with Tripawds, these guys are really amazing animals and have the will to live normal lives.

Seems like kismet: it was meant to be! So happy you have given Sarge the loving and supportive home he needs. I know he’ll recover well from heartworm as it is clear already that he is a warrior! So happy Tripawds was able to help this happen. My best to you and Sarge as you both recover and move forward! And to all of your family!
