Hemi the Tripawd Puppy is Hiking and Fishing Again Thanks to ASAP Grant Donors

What a joy to see how the Tripawds Foundation ASAP grant is giving new Tripawd Hemi his old outdoorsy life back!

Three-Legged Hemi is Ready to Get Outside Again!

Here is his application story as told by Hemi’s mom, Amanda.

My dog Hemi was hit by a car on 9/25/2025 at 7:30 pm. We took him to the emergency vet in Butler PA, and he had an x-ray done that showed he broke his femur.

The vet said he could have surgery to fix it in Pittsburgh. The other option was for an amputation at their clinic and they required it to be paid up front at the full cost.

I only had limited funds and they wouldn’t keep him that night. They sent him home with pain medication for 30 days and told me to call around and look for funding or vets that would be willing to do the surgery at a cheaper rate.

The cost of care quickly added up and created financial strain.

I found a vet that will do this surgery in Greenville at Whispering Pines Vet Clinic. If you guys could help pay for some of Hemi’s surgery we would be so thankful!

We kept him from a litter of puppies that our other dogs had. So we have the whole little family.

The last option was to put him down and he is still so full of life even with his hurt leg. He is our little adventure buddy.

We take him hiking, exploring, and fishing with us any chance we get. He has gotten so used to fishing with us he will sit and wait until you catch a fish and sometimes grab it out of the water.

He is such a sweet boy.
